Ty Hafan

virtual fundraising

During this pandemic our children and families need you now more than ever!

Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on our fundraising activity, resulting in a significant loss of income for the charity. However, we have been inspired by the incredible ingenuity of our amazing supporters who have taken things online in a bid to ensure our services can continue. If you've thought about holding a virtual event but aren't entirely sure where to start then please read on...

What is virtual fundraising?

Virtual fundraising is a great way to raise funds for Tŷ Hafan whilst the current lockdown and social distancing measures are in place in Wales and across the UK. Virtual fundraising involves setting up an online fundraising page to collect donations for a challenge, or online event. It is really that simple!

How to host a virtual fundraising event

Like any good fundraising event, it’s all in the planning. All you need to get started is a little imagination and you’ll be well on your way to virtual fundraising success (from a safe distance of course!)

Step 1

Choose your idea and choose a time and date

Step 2

Set up your JustGiving page and update with details of your event. Share the link with family, friends and colleagues and ask them to donate the cost of entry, a coffee, or a present etc.

Step 3

Choose your streaming platform (Zoom / Houseparty / Facebook Live) and share the details with your guests so they can take part in the event

Fresh ideas for you

Here are some of our favourite activities – BE OUR HERO from your armchair or in fresh air…

During January and February we are asking our heroes to raise funds in support of our appeal.

1. Add a frame to your Page's profile picture

Show your support of our #FitForFuture refurbishment campaign in a really simple way by giving your Facebook profile picture a frame. It’s really easy to do and you can remove it any time you like, just follow these simple instructions:

To add a frame to your Page's profile picture:

  1. Go to your Facebook profile and click on your profile picture.
  2. Click ‘Add Frame’ then search for “Tŷ Hafan Fit for Future
  3. Select the frame and click 'Use as Profile Picture'.
  4. To help even more, you can add this sentence to the description too: "I’m supporting Tŷ Hafan’s #FitForFuture campaign. Visit www.tyhafan.org/fitforfuture to donate."

2. Do you have a birthday coming up?

Set-up a birthday fundraiser on Facebook or on Just Giving, and invite your friends to donate instead of giving a gift.

3. COMING SOON! Recycle your old IT equipment

Save unwanted games consoles, laptops & tablets for our next amnesty.

50% of proceeds come to Tŷ Hafan.

4. Host a Gaming night!

Into live gaming? Check out our gameraisers page.

5. A personal challenge – is now the time to START, or to STOP?
