Both Scott Hamer and Gaz completed a gruelling 75km (46 Mile) ultramarathon from The Royal Navy Outdoor Centre at Tal-y-Bont in the Brecon Beacons to HMS Cambria in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 11 May.
The timing of the event was part of this year’s celebrations of 75 years of HMS Cambria in South Wales. You can find out more about this by following the hashtag #Cambria75 on social media.
Both Scott and Gaz describe themselves as well-motivated and physically fit. Says Scott: “This was seen as a great challenge and with such a worthy charity as Tŷ Hafan, choosing to do this was an easy decision to make.
“Having previously raised money for Tŷ Hafan as a unit completing the UK 3 Peaks Challenge in 2016 and being next door to our old site in Sully, it felt the right choice for such a worthwhile charity.
“There were times during the run that the legs were sore and stiff but the thought of why we were doing this was motivation enough to carry on, stopping was never an option as it’s just simply not in our nature.
“The run took just over 9 hours, and the donations are still coming in.”
