“My interest in supporting Tŷ Hafan began in Dec 2019 when I was advised that one of my duties as Vice-Captain was to choose a charity to support.
“I was instantly drawn by Tŷ Hafan as I had such an affinity for the work they do for children and supporting families. I was also aware of the challenges they face as a self-funded charity. My choice was confirmed when I attended the Christmas pantomime and was shown around Tŷ Hafan.
“After so long in lockdown when we were unable to play golf, it was a joy to be able to get together at the club on a glorious day for our annual charity golf day on Saturday 12 June. More than 180 golfers from Radyr and other clubs, including professional golfers Richard Bentham, Christian Askins and Lloyd Williams, took part in a stableford golf competition in glorious conditions.
“Throughout the day there were lots of opportunities to help raise money which included:
“The generosity of our golfers as well as that of those who donated prizes and those who volunteered to help resulted in nearly £2,000 being raised for Tŷ Hafan. I would particularly like to thank the following for their support:
“I look forward to inviting a member of Tŷ Hafan to Radyr on our presentation night to present a cheque of all moneys raised throughout the year.
“I am hoping to host a charity dinner in aid of Tŷ Hafan this autumn, and finally, in addition to supporting the charity through Radyr Golf Club, I am also a personal supporter of Tŷ Hafan and will continue to do so.”
