Kate, the director of Taylor & Co and her team have put the fun back into fundraising by challenging themselves to all kinds of fundraising activities for Tŷ Hafan over the years. Despite the current pandemic, 2021 is no different. Kate explained that her and the team “have enjoyed every minute of the various escapades and have certainly become fitter and developed a camaraderie and bond” during the many challenges faced, “some being more painful than others”.
Despite the team not being able to work together or fundraise in public due to social distancing guidelines, the staff put on their thinking hats and started creating ideas. After reading about Tŷ Hafan’s refurbishment appeal and realising that £170,000 was still needed to finish the refurb, the idea of the challenge was created. Kate explained: “We agreed we needed to push ourselves after a year of couch-based inactivity and what better way than to walk 170 miles for Tŷ Hafan in February!"
Kate said: “It started out as a collective 170 miles between colleagues.” However, the challenge has “somehow morphed into an individual competition of 170 miles” she continued. Though, two of the team members Rachael and Kim are sticking to the original plan, Kate and team member Harriet are “battling it out for top spot”, nothing like a bit of healthy competition! So far, in the first week of the challenge, the team of four had already completed 146 miles combined and by day 13 they had fundraised £700 towards the refurbishment appeal. Kate said: “We’ve had an amazing time and got fitter to boot.”
Taylor & Co Estate Agents are doing a very creative challenge, or should we say competition between teammates, for Tŷ Hafan.
